KATHLEEN BURGIN
Kathleen spent her career in the media and technology industries. After beginning in radio as the Director of Sales Promotions for the first alternative rock station in Denver, Kathleen realized that her entrepreneurial skills were floating to the surface. In 1995, when the Internet was just beginning to dawn, she began working with a small group of talented individuals who believed that the Internet would one day change the landscape of both business and everyday living. It is the classic story of working from a garage (actually a warehouse) and growing a company from nothing to - in just 3 years time - being listed as one of the Top Ten Agencies in the World. Kathleen led this effort as the Executive Vice President of Sales and was responsible for sales across the US, Hong Kong and London. She worked with companies such as Virgin Atlantic, Universal Studios, Budget Rent a Car and Nike to create a strategic and first-to-market Internet presence.
In 1996 Kathleen went to Vietnam with Friendship Bridge, a micro-credit lending organization, and her life and heart were changed forever. This introduction to extreme poverty changed her from the inside out and impassioned Kathleen to dedicate her time, energy and skills to eradicating poverty in the lives of women and children across the globe. Kathleen spent 10 years on the Board of Directors for Friendship Bridge and was instrumental in the introduction of micro-credit in Guatemala. She has sat on the board for Starfish One-by-One for over a year and looks forward to many more.
