JUDY SADLIER

Following graduation from UC Berkeley, I pursued a life-long career in the Financial Services Industry, which encompassed many positions in management as well as personal financial counseling. In 2004 my husband and I retired and chose Guatemala as our second home. We immediately became involved in the microcredit program of Friendship Bridge as we believed that access to money would make all the difference in the lives of poor people, only to discover that the key to prosperity is a relevant and meaningful education.

As a member of the Starfish-One-By-One Board of Advisors, I am contributing to an organization that values practical education for the poor as a tool for both the personal development of each mentorship student as well as enrichment for each of the communities in which they live.

As the Founder of the Guatemala NGO Network, I have an opportunity to view much of the work that is being done in Guatemala to help the poor. It reinforces my opinion that only those organizations that provide education and counseling in their work achieve the result of providing long term benefits to the population.
